Odoo 19 New Features: What's New and What Actually Matters

Odoo 19 landed in September 2025, and I had the privilege of presenting its new features at Odoo Experience 2025 in Brussels. After walking partners and customers through the release — and then putting it to work for clients here in the UAE — here is my honest, practical take on what changed and what actually matters for a growing business.

What Odoo 19 emphasizes

Odoo's own one-line summary for this release is "AI, smarter sales, polished websites, and a brand-new app", and for once the marketing is fair. The centre of gravity in Odoo 19 is artificial intelligence woven directly into everyday workflows — a new "Ask AI" assistant and configurable AI Agents — alongside a faster sales-quoting experience and refreshed website and eCommerce templates.

The release also debuts two brand-new apps — Equity for share and cap-table management, and ESG for carbon-footprint and social-metrics reporting — and ships more than 45 new industry-specific packages with localizations covering over 70 countries. For those of us implementing Odoo in the UAE, that continued investment in localization is a welcome signal, even if the AI features are what everyone asks about first.

AI woven into everyday workflows

Ask AI, the command-palette assistant

The feature that gets the loudest reaction in demos is Ask AI. You open it with Ctrl+K — the command palette power users already live in — from anywhere in the database. It answers questions in natural language, opens the relevant view or report, and drafts or improves text. One caveat I always flag up front: the standard assistant cannot itself modify your database, so treat it as a very fast navigator and writing aid, not an autonomous operator.

AI Agents

AI Agents are the more interesting long-term story. You build them from Topics — instructions paired with Tools that let an agent take an action, such as creating a lead or opening a view — and Sources, the PDFs, weblinks, Documents or Knowledge articles you allow it to reference. In practice you can constrain an agent to your own approved material, which matters when you don't want an assistant improvising answers about your pricing or policies.

The AI theme runs through the other apps too. CRM adds AI-powered win-probability analysis for leads and lets your team generate leads by scanning business cards. Documents can automatically sort uploads to the right location and assign the relevant people, and emailed invoices or receipts are converted into files automatically. None of these are gimmicks — they remove small, repetitive decisions that quietly eat a team's day.

Smarter sales and quoting

If AI is the headline, the new quote creator is the feature I expect most SMEs to feel first. Salespeople can organize proposals into sections and subsections, hide unnecessary detail, and let Odoo auto-calculate shipping, while clients confirm instantly through the portal with an online down payment. A cleaner quote a customer can read, accept and part-pay in one sitting is exactly the friction removal that shortens a sales cycle — I would configure and test it early in any rollout.

Two brand-new apps: Equity and ESG

Equity tracks share issuances, sales and option exercises for a company's shareholders register and capitalization table. It is squarely aimed at fiduciaries and accounting firms, and if that describes your practice, it retires a fragile spreadsheet that has caused years of pain.

ESG automates carbon-footprint and social-metric data collection by pulling from the Accounting, Fleet, Payroll and Employees apps, then generates emissions reports in tCO2e by scope, aligned with the GHG Protocol and using certified databases such as IPCC and ADEME. Sustainability reporting is climbing the agenda for larger UAE groups and anyone with European trading partners, so having it native to the ERP is a sensible direction. My honest guidance: treat it as a strong starting framework, not a replacement for a qualified sustainability advisor.

Accounting gets more automatic

Bank reconciliation has been redesigned to handle most transactions automatically, with smart buttons guiding users through the exceptions, a simplified interface with keyboard shortcuts, and the ability to reconcile draft entries. Reconciliation is where finance teams lose hours every month, so cutting the manual matching is welcome — combined with the AI document sorting above, month-end should genuinely feel lighter.

Inventory and manufacturing

Inventory gains a Master Production Scheduler that calculates forecasted demand and identifies forecast gaps, plus the ability to build nested "packages within packages". Manufacturing gets a Gantt view to visualise ongoing and upcoming manufacturing orders, and the Shop Floor module has had a comprehensive UI/UX redesign, including the ability to move orders between work centres.

For the manufacturing and distribution clients I work with, the scheduler and the Gantt view are the standouts — they give planners a forward-looking picture that previously needed exports and side spreadsheets.

Website and eCommerce

Website pages can now be auto-generated from AI prompts, and the storefront can surface AI-based product recommendations. eCommerce adds native Google Merchant Center integration to synchronise products and manage multiple feeds, along with new customizable /shop page layouts. If you run an online store, the Merchant Center integration is the practical win — keeping product feeds in sync is fiddly, error-prone work, and bringing it inside Odoo removes a recurring headache.

Smaller upgrades worth knowing

A few more changes I would flag, because they solve real problems:

  • Studio — Odoo's no-code toolbox for customizing fields, views, models, automation rules, webhooks, PDF reports and approval rules — adds Web Service Server Actions, letting you create API endpoints directly from server actions; genuinely useful for lightweight integrations without a full custom module.
  • Sign can now share templates across multiple signing batches and send signature reminders by SMS — small, but it chases down the signatures that otherwise stall a deal.
  • Point of Sale introduces ready-made Presets for restaurants (dine-in, takeout, delivery) and retail, plus kitchen course ordering and QR-code mobile menus — a real step up for hospitality clients.

Should you upgrade?

Here is my consultant's answer, and it is deliberately unexciting: it depends on where you are today.

If you are already on a recent version with fairly standard configuration, Odoo 19 is a compelling upgrade — the AI tooling, the new quote creator and the accounting improvements compound into real daily time savings. If you are several versions behind, or you carry heavy customisations, plan a proper upgrade project: test every custom module against 19, budget for regression testing, and never move production without a full dry run on a copy of your database first.

For UAE businesses I would add one consideration: keep your upgrade timing aligned with your compliance calendar — VAT and the upcoming e-invoicing obligations — so you are not switching versions and reconfiguring tax logic in the same fortnight. New features are worth having, but stability around statutory reporting comes first.

The practical takeaway: Odoo 19's value for an SME is less about any single headline feature and more about the compounding of small automations — AI drafting and sorting, smarter quotes, more automatic reconciliation. Scope your upgrade around the two or three that touch your busiest team, and you will feel the return quickly.

Frequently asked questions

When was Odoo 19 released?
Odoo 19.0 was released in September 2025. I presented its new features at Odoo Experience 2025 in Brussels, so this guide reflects walking through the release in detail and then putting it in front of real clients.
What is the biggest change in Odoo 19?
The defining theme is AI woven directly into everyday workflows — a new Ask AI command-palette assistant and configurable AI Agents — alongside a faster, more flexible sales quote creator and two brand-new apps, Equity for cap-table management and ESG for carbon-footprint reporting.
Can the Odoo 19 AI assistant change my data?
The standard Ask AI assistant answers questions, opens the relevant views and reports, and drafts or improves text — but it cannot itself modify the database. AI Agents can be given Tools to take specific actions, such as creating a lead, within limits you configure.
Should I upgrade to Odoo 19?
If you are on a recent version with standard configuration, it is a strong upgrade. If you are several versions behind or heavily customised, treat it as a proper project with full regression testing on a copy of your database first — and, for UAE businesses, time it around your VAT and e-invoicing calendar.

Software features evolve between releases and point updates. This article reflects the Odoo 19.0 release as of July 2026; always confirm specifics against the official Odoo 19 release notes and documentation before making a decision.
